MALAYSIAN GOVERNMENT THROUGH DVS ANNOUNCES AQINA FARM COLLABORATION WITH UNIVERSITY MALAYSIA PAHANG’S SUBSIDIARY TO REVOLUTIONIZE THE POULTRY FARMING INDUSTRY WITH ‘AYAM NANAS’

KOTA DAMANSARA, 20th August 2019 – Dato’ Dr. Quaza Nizamuddin bin Hassan Nizam, Director General of Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) of the Ministry of Agriculture & Agro-based Industry (MOA) announced the collaboration between AQINA and UMP Technology Sdn Bhd (UMPT), a subsidiary of University Malaysia Pahang (UMP) to introduce “AYAM NANAS” to the Malaysian market which provides a more nutritional, healthier, safer and more delicious chicken for Malaysians to consume. AYAM NANAS’ chickens are supplemented with probiotic enzyme extracted originally from fermented MD2 pineapple. Based on the breakthrough research by AQINA and UMPT, the MD2 Probiotic Enzyme is used in AQINA Farm’s poultry farming practice to replace the use of antibiotic in order to produce chickens that are antibiotic residue free and growth hormone free. AQINA is also collaborating with GIANT Hypermarket, Jaya Grocer, Village Grocer, AEON, AEON MaxValu, HERO MARKET, Jason Food Hall, Cold Storage, Ben’s Independent Grocer, Maslee Express, De Luxe Circle Fresh Mart as well as NSK TRADE CITY to distribute the AYAM NANAS nationwide.

The revolutionary innovation was officially recognized and announced by the Guest of Honor, Dato’ Dr Quaza Nizamuddin bin Hassan Nizam, Director General of Department of Veterinary Services (DVS), accompanied by Mr. Wesley Tan, the Group Executive Director of AQINA Farm and Mr. Steve Wong, the Group CEO of AQINA Farm. Also present was Dr Mohd Shuhaizam Mohd Zain, CEO of the Malaysian Bioeconomy Development Corporation Sdn Bhd, Dr. Nur Aainaa Syafini Mohd Radzi, General Manager of the University Malaysia Pahang Technology (UMPT), and amongst other representatives from Ministry of Domestic Trade & Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP), Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), GCH Retail Malaysia (GIANT Hypermarket), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), AGRO Bank, etc.

At the event, Dato’ Dr. Quaza Nizamuddin bin Hassan Nizam, Director General of Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) said, “I am truly honored to officiate and announce this technological breakthrough of research and development. I hope the Malaysian poultry community would adopt this innovative system as the best industry practices to ensure a better-quality livestock”.

During the event, Dr Gulam Shah bin Faizal Din, a qualified professional veterinarian consultant, also gave a health talk and reiterated that bromelain enzyme can be used as probiotic in chicken diets. This enzyme helps to boost immunity and digestibility, which explains why AQINA can supply AYAM NANAS, free from antibiotic residue, growth hormone, capable of performing like any conventional reared chicken.
