The state economy has for many years been growing higher than the national average and it grew 6.8% last year, which was the highest among all the states. With that rate, Selangor managed to contribute 23.7% to Malaysia’s GDP in the same year. This is a remarkable achievement increasing from 22.7% in 2016 and 23% in 2017.

Since 1987, Selangor has attracted RM 210.6 billion worth of foreign and domestic direct investments through more than 7,900 projects. Through these investments, more than 700,00 employment opportunities have been created.

According to the investment statistics released by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), in 2018 alone, the figures have exceeded expectations when RM 18.9 billion worth of investments were brought into Selangor, which was an overwhelming 239% growth from the previous year. This was also the highest amount of investments we have received in a single year throughout the past 25 years. This impressive track record serves as a great testimonial for Selangor to remain as a preferred investment destination in Malaysia. Most importantly, Hong Kong is ranked 3rd among the investment source countries with a total investment of RM 945.40 billion (USD 225.44 billion).
