A total of 23 participants managed to be achievers of the 100,000 steps challenge, which was recognized by the Malaysia Book of Records

McMillan Woods, through their CSR arm McM Cares, successfully organized the McMillan Woods 100,000 Steps Challenge at the Tropicana Metropark, a prestigious development by Tropicana Corporation Berhad, to raise RM100,000 for the National Council of the Blind Malaysia (NCBM) and the additional funds is to support the Old Folks Homes. McM Cares program is a CSR initiative driven by McMillan Woods that has contributed over USD200,000 (RM812,900) since its inception to various charities. It aims to address the global challenges of climate change, education and poverty alleviation. Newly crowned Miss Cosmopolitan World First Runner Up Winner, Ms Christine Chai as the Ambassador and Mr Moses Choo, Executive Director of NCBM were present for the awards & closing ceremony.

Thanks to the MCM Cares Charity Walk, funding for 50 braille machines will now be purchased for NCBM to assist the blind to communicate more effectively. In addition to that, McM Cares also successfully managed to raise additional funds to support the Old Folks homes in caring for the elderly.

The 100,000 Steps Challenge is recognized by the Malaysia Book of Records for the achievers of the 100,000 steps, which is equivalent to traveling 75km, a daunting task that took a lot of perseverance and determination. Mr Lim Guan Gin (65), a retired remisier, broke the record yesterday after a grueling 15 hours walk in the name of charity through the beautiful urban greenery landscape of Tropicana Metropark. A total of 23 participants managed to be achievers of the 100,000 steps challenge.

This international caliber 100,000 Steps Challenge attracted many supportive sponsors and to name a few, the like of Bagman for backpacks, T-Shirts from Ultron, Medals and Trophies from Unique Supreme, MyDin for drinks and cookies, Pensonic for achiever gifts, Cuckoo Malaysia for the mystery gifts to selective participants, Tourism Malaysia for door gifts,  among many others to include Fitbit pedometer watches for selective achievers who persevere through the gruesome 18 hours to accomplish the 100,000 steps. There are also supporters for massage chairs from Gintell to sooth the ache and pain; treadmills from Fitness Concept, in case of rain.
