PETRONAS, through its Fluid Technology Solutions, celebrated their historic 6th consecutive double World Championship and received the 2019 F1 World Championship trophy from Lewis Hamilton & Valtteri Bottas at the PETRONAS Twin Towers on 4th December 2019. In 10 seasons of partnership they have scored, a significant total of 92 Grand Prix victories in 196 races to date, taken 102 pole positions and lifted 193 trophies.

Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Motorsport became the first team in the sport’s history to win six double championships in a row. The Silver Arrows clinched the Constructors’ title in Japan, where Bottas claimed the race win, while Hamilton became the second most successful F1 driver of all time at the US Grand Prix.

Hamilton, who was here in Kuala Lumpur said: “It’s become a great tradition that PETRONAS invite us to their headquarters to celebrate the championships together – they’re a very important part of the team, and we could not have done this without them. Together, we have achieved something that has never been done before – six consecutive double championships!”

Bottas further added: “The fuel and lubricants are the lifeblood of our car. I know that it’s not just our team-mates back at Brackley and Brixworth that are already working flat-out to find even more performance for next year’s car, it’s also a lot of colleagues here at PETRONAS who will unlock even more power for our 2020 car.”

Meanwhile, PETRONAS President and Group CEO, Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin said winning six consecutive Constructors’ Championship is an outstanding tribute of shared success as title and technical partner of Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Motorsport. He was joined by more than 100 PETRONAS senior management staff assembling at the lobby of the PETRONAS Twin Towers, creating a human assembled “6” world championship for the global and local media.
