BUILDING FIRST-WORLD MALAYSIANS THROUGH A PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN KIDZANIA KUALA LUMPUR AND BFM

The award-winning indoor family center, KidZania Kuala Lumpur, has welcomed for the first time a business radio station to its premises. This exciting development comes following an industry partnership between KidZania Kuala Lumpur and BFM, Malaysia’s only independent business radio station.

Aimed at amplifying kids’ voices across the ages, the new BFM 89.9 studio will encourage early stage exposure to the radio broadcasting industry while equipping them with vital skill sets for the future such as confidence building, communication skills and critical thinking.

Representing KidZania Kuala Lumpur at the announcement ceremony was its Mayor, Shahrul Nizar Ahmad while BFM Media was represented by Founder and Managing Director, Malek Ali and General Manager, Meera Sivasothy.

Further commenting on the partnership, Shahrul Nizar added, “Radio broadcasters like BFM have done an impressive job of adapting to the shifting tides in the media landscape, capitalizing on new streaming technology and finding new ways to connect with listeners through its online radio platform, podcasts and mobile app. This presents a wealth of opportunities for our younger generation and we believe this partnership will go a long way in empowering kids and preparing them for the future.”

With the opening of the BFM Studio, children will have the opportunity to explore the different facets of being a radio announcer, pick up handy tips and tricks of being a field reporter and experience the thrill and excitement of being under the spotlight as a guest speaker. Some of the activities that are introduced in the establishment include learning production, broadcast and interview skills, as well having the opportunity to light up the city with entertainment as they play amazing chart hits.

Meanwhile, Malek Ali said, “We see the new BFM studio at KidZania Kuala Lumpur as a great opportunity for kids to view radio not just as medium of entertainment, but to learn about real-world matters. To formalize the partnership between KidZania Kuala Lumpur and BFM, Malek was presented with the ‘Key to the City’, a symbolic honor traditionally bestowed by a city upon esteemed individuals.
