YB TUAN MUHAMMAD BAKHTIAR KICKS OF THE NEW YEAR WITH VISIT MALAYSIA 2020 CONCERT, SHOWCASING A GLIMPSE OF EXCITING FESTIVITIES AND EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR

Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) and Istana Budaya kicked of the New Year with a bang by organizing a Visit Malaysia (VM) 2020 Concert in Istana Budaya on Saturday, 11th January 2020, officiated by YB Tuan Muhammad Bakhtiar bin Wan Chik, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia. The concert was held in collaboration with agencies / departments under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC) aimed at promoting the festival framework to encourage local and international tourist arrivals to Malaysia.

A line-up of renowned artists such as Dato 'Jamal Abdillah, Dato' Jeffrydin, Dato 'Ramli Sarip, Dato' Yusni Hamid, Noraniza Idris, Syamel, Ernie Zakri, Asmidar, Idayu and Rojer were the highlights of the concert and their performance was accompanied by the award-winning National Symphony Orchestra (NSO), Orchestra Traditional Malaysian (OTM) and Istana Budaya Dance Artist. Also featured during the concert were promotional key videos from the agencies and departments of MOTAC for the year 2020 including the National Department for Culture & Arts (JKKN), Malaysian Manufacturing Development Corporation (Craft), National Library of Malaysia (PNM) and Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) video.

During the opening remarks, YB Tuan Muhammad Bakhtiar hoped that the atmosphere of the concert would be a strong reflection of the country's festivity vibes to celebrate 2020 with a host of exciting key events, including hosting the APEC Conference, Kuala Lumpur World Book Capital 2020 (KLWBC 2020), KL Biennale 2020 and as well as over 100 cultural and tourism arts events such as the Malaysian Open House, CITRAWARNA, Magic of the Night, Vasakhi Festival and programs in the states.

In conclusion, there were also product and service exhibitions, contributed by various agencies & departments such as JKKN, Crafts, PNM, Department of Museums Malaysia (JMM) and Malaysia Tourism Center (MaTiC) which was held at the foyer. Istana Budaya in collaboration with the Bentan Society of Malaysia also held the Malaysia & World’s Largest Tanjak construction event with a spectacular exhibition here in Istana Budaya.
