INTERNATIONAL FRANCHISE MALAYSIA (FIM2020) ACCELERATES TOWARD DIGITIALIZATION OF THE FRANCHISING INDUSTRY TO TARGET RM 450MIL

The International Franchise Malaysia 2020 (FIM 2020) Exhibition and Conference organized by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) in conjunction with the Malaysian Franchise Association (MFA) will be held from 9 to 11 April 2020 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC) providing exposure and business opportunities for visitors interested in becoming a franchise entrepreneur. The organization of FIM 2020 is also supported and fully recognized by the international franchising bodies such as World Franchise Council (WFC), the Asia Pacific Franchise Confederation (APFC) and the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE).

Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution, Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs said up to 116 exhibition booths have been filled by local and international franchisors. "The FIM2020 themed Beyond 2020: Towards Digitizing Franchising will bring significant achievements and challenge the Malaysian franchise industry to face digitization in modernizing human resources, meeting customer expectations, improving business operations processes and developing digital business models" said Datuk Seri Saifuddin during the FIM2020 Launch Council.

The FIM2020 will attract over 15,000 visitors and target potential transactions of RM450 million with 142 exhibition spaces throughout the three days of the exhibition.

In addition to the main activities of international exhibitions and conferences, there is also a Business Matching Session between franchisors and prospective franchise entrepreneurs and the Franchise In-Buying Mission (FIBM) is to attract graduates to FIM2020. These are among the activities organized to help exhibitors and visitors gain more exposure and knowledge throughout the program.

Meanwhile, the program also received sponsorship from various parties including National Corporation (DoNS), Doorianeka (M) Sdn Bhd (Doorian), Revenue Valley Sdn Bhd (The Manhattan Fish Market), Marrybrown Sdn Bhd (Marrybrown), Cleanpro Express Learning Center Sdn Bhd (Cleanpro) and Muzart Learning Center.

This year, FIM will bring together exhibitors from 14 countries such as Australia, the Netherlands, Taiwan, Indonesia, Italy, Jordan, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, the United States and others. In this regard, the Ministry with the MFA urged the local and international franchise players to take this opportunity to gain insights and the prospects of the franchise industry.

Shamshuzaman Bin Haji Sulaiman.
