KL Converge! 2015 was launched by the Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on 27th August 2015.

In his officiating speech, the minister reiterated, “The local creative digital industry is expected to generate GNI (Gross National Income) of RM51.5bil in 2020 and KL Converge! is one of the platforms that will expedite our digital economy and the digital lifestyles for all Malaysians.”

As a 3-day event, KL Converge! offered Malaysians to be part of its growing digital content ecosystem with an immersive experience to show how technology and content is an everyday part of our lives.

Hence, FINAS seized the opportunity by coordinating the first licensing show of its kind in Malaysia, namely ‘Character & Creative Licensing Showcase.’ The showcase gathered more than 10 local and international characters or intellectual properties (IPs) under one roof with the objective to license them to the international and local content buyers. Participated exhibitors received promising responses and had good discussions with potential retailers, corporate consumer brands, and licensing agencies throughout the showcase. The minister was also seen visiting various booths at the showcase with the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (KKMM), Dato' Sri Dr. Sharifah Zarah.

KL Converge! 2015 also brought together leading industry executives from various multimedia, applications, and creative fields such as FINAS, MDeC, Astro, Maxis, RTM and many more.
