The Minister in the Prime Minister's Department and FINAS chairman, Dato' Seri Azalina Othman officiated the FINAS' Malaysian Film Expo, held in conjunction with the 27th Malaysia Film Festival, at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre today.
The expo targets to promote the film industry to the public, showcase what FINAS has to offer across the film industry players, as well as generate interest and talent from the public.
Among those witnessing the official ceremony include the Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Dato' Seri Panglima Dr. Mohd Salleh Keruak; the Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Dato' Jailani Johari; the Secretary-General of Ministry Communications and Multimedia, Dato' Sri Dr. Sharifah Zarah Syed Ahmad; and Director General of FINAS, Dato’ Kamil Othman.
In her speech, Dato’ Seri Azalina Othman said, “The synergy between the industry players and the government is vital to ensure our local creative industry continue to thrive and achieve international standard while still keeping our national identity. Thus, I hope the Malaysian Film Expo will be the best platform for knowledge-sharing as well as skills and technology convergence between industry players and the public.”
After the officiating ceremony, the ministers were taken on a tour around the exhibition hall to check out various booths from the history behind film making, how films are made, visual effects and animation, green screen techniques, biggest filming cameras exhibition, laser-tag games to FINAS' booth, among others. The expo opens to the public from 4th to 5th September 2015.
