Malaysia Announces 5 Deals at MIPCOM Day 2

During the Creative Malaysia Networking Reception, held at the Malaysian Pavilion during the second day of MIPCOM 2015, the Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia, Dato' Jailani Johari announced 5 deals between Malaysian animation studios and their foreign partners.

The Memorandum of Agreements (MoA) were between:

  1. Animasia Studio, Malaysia and Zodiak Kids, France – Co-production of an animated TV series ‘Magiki’
  2. Funcel, Malaysia and Semerkand Yapim, Turkey – Co-production of new (untitled) animated series and distribution opportunities of original Malaysia and Turkey Content
  3. Frogtale Studios, Malaysia and Karton Robot, Turkey – Co-production of a new (untitled) animated TV series
  4. Giggle Garage, Malaysia and Funny Flux, South Korea – Co-production of an animated TV series ‘Katuri’   
  5. Lil’ Critter Workshop, Malaysia and Grafizix Co. Ltd., South Korea – Co-production of an animated TV Series ‘FrienZoo’

Speaking at the reception, Dato' Jailani Johari also highlighted Malaysian incentives and funds by the government to the foreign delegates, "If you (production companies) are thinking of coming to Malaysia, the government through the national Film Development Corporation (FINAS) is offering 100% Tax Break Status and you can even get 30% Cash Rebate with our Filming in Malaysia incentives (FIMI)."
