Malaysia’s Animasia Studio has inked a deal with NCircle Entertainment (USA) to enter its animated series, ‘ABC Monsters’ (26 eps x 22 mins) to North American market and Zodiak Kids (France) to co-produce new animated series titled ‘Magiki’ (52 episodes x 11 minutes) at the Creative Malaysia Networking Reception held at the Malaysian Pavilion during MIPCOM 2015.
“We are excited to be expanding our catalogue of quality family programming with ABC Monsters, which appeal to our core audiences,” said Mary Flynn, NCircle’s Vice President of Sales, Content and Acquisitions. She added, “ABC Monsters is a terrific new series for little ones that presents early learning concepts in a fun and engaging way. Parents and kids have some great entertainment coming their way with this release!”
ABC Monsters introduces pre-schoolers to the alphabet with fun vibrant characters and stories that make learning exciting. Moreover, Genius Brands International (GBI), a global content and brand management company dedicated to providing entertaining and enriching 'content with a purpose' for its audiences, has acquired ABC Monsters from NCircle to be broadcasted on its new Kid Genius channel, debuting on Comcast's ‘Xfinity On Demand’ service this fall.
On the other hand, Magiki, aimed at children aged 4 to 7 years old, tells the story of an ordinary little girl named Ginger who steps into a world where she is the princess, because of the kindness of her heart.
The series, which was inspired by a range of collectible blind bag figurines produced by De Agostini Publishing, will also be co-produced with DeAgostini and Rainbow in Italy as well as Planeta in Spain. The production will be overseen by Eryk Casemiro, Chief Creative Officer of Zodiak Kids Studios, and Benoît Runel, Managing Director of Zodiak Kids Studios France, together with Edmund Chan, Managing Director of Animasia Studio and Raye Lee, Executive Director of Animasia Studio as Executive Producers.
Speaking of the collaboration at MIPCOM 2015, Benoît Runel commented “Our experience in Malaysia is improving every time we produce a series, and we are thrilled to have Animasia Studio as our co-production partner this time.”
Raye Lee, Executive Director of Animasia Studio reiterated, “It is going to be an exciting journey ahead for Animasia Studio as we will be working and partnering with some of the biggest names in the children content industry.”
Production will begin this summer at Zodiak’s Tele Images Productions, France and the series is set to be broadcasted in 2016/2017 on Lagardere’s Gulli in France and DeAgostini’s Deakids in Italy.
