Dato’ Kamil Othman, Director General of the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) represented Malaysia at the 4th Asia Content Business Summit (ACBS) organised by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) Japan in Tokyo.
The open seminar held at Hotel Nikko Tokyo brought together related public-private sectors in the content industry from Asian regions to discuss on how to encourage the industry and the latest trends in the market.
In addition to the open seminar, the ACBS also held a private dialogue among related people from the governments and several organisations to discuss on when and who will be the host for the upcoming 5th Asia Content Business Summit. Currently, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) of the Philippines is the first in line as the next host. While Malaysia’s FINAS or Thailand’s Software Industry Promotion Agency (SIPA) are in talk to be the next possible host should DTI withdraw.
Moreover, Dato’ Kamil also introduced FINAS’ ‘Malaysia Content Pitching Centre’ to the regional key players and encourage co-production as the centre offers various incentives, consequently raising the awareness of the Malaysian Creative and Content Industry.
