Animated Series ‘Just in Case’ Bags the Grand Prize for ‘The Big FAT Pitch’ 2015

New in-development animated series 'Just in Case,' a creative idea from Mohamad Zufar and his team at Annasis Mirror Sdn. Bhd. was crowned the winner of the inaugural 'The Big FAT Pitch' 2015, organised by the ASEAN Brand Creative (ABC) Licensing 2015 as one of the peripheral programmes for 1 Entrepreneurship Summit (1AES) 2015.

The competition aims to offer an opportunity for new and established entrepreneurs to capitalise on their creativity, and seeks creative content ideas among students and professionals alike that can extend to becoming the next big thing in licensing and merchandising.

'Just in Case' is a funny 3D animated series with a hint of live action and 2D animation. It begins with a world where each container a child owns such as water bottle, sandwich box, etc, has a guardian. In a world where food is highly sought after, 'Buddy' the guardian of a school bag met Cecil, who fell from his spaceship - a pencil case - from the sky. Then, their funny and dramatic adventure begins but often with a strong bond of friendship.

Moreover, the competition intended to inspire the next generation and stimulate the creative industry as well as economy. A total of 14 participants from various backgrounds presented their creative ideas in front of 5 professional juries, Ms. Tani Wong, Managing Director of Licensing Industry Merchandisers' Association (LIMA) Asia; Ms. Melissa Tinker, Vice President of Cartoon Network Enterprises (Asia); Ms Faridah Jaafar, Director of Creative Content FINAS; Kee Yong Pin, Co-Founder and Operations of Animonsta Studios; and Miss Firdaus Husamuddin, Group Executive Director of Karangkraf. The participants were judged on originality, quality, design, concept, objectives, sales potential, creativity, and overall presentation.

"'Just in Case' was selected based on its originality which has the potential to become a popular animation and the license can be extended into new categories and businesses. In terms of overall performance and idea, Malaysian talents are definitely brave in exploring their creativity,” said Tani Wong.

ABC Licensing 2015 Chairman, Adam Ham said, "This is the first pitching event in the world that concentrates on licensing that were held in Malaysia, and we are proud to be the driving force in encouraging ASEAN entrepreneurs to showcase their IPs that has the potential to expand into creative licensing, to 5 leading international buyers and other investors in the audience.”
