The Young Filmmakers and Digital Content Forum (also known as the Young Filmmakers Forum) is a biennial event that provide a space for critical discussions on films, filmmaking and digital creative content. Now in its third edition, the forum brought together key players across the spectrum of MalaysiaŹ¼s creative industries, to highlight current issues and trends in the film industry.

This year's event features three panel discussions, featuring award-winning filmmakers, academics and film activists from Malaysia such as Fikri Jermadi (lecturer, Monash University); Liew Seng Tat (filmmaker, Lelaki Harapan Dunia); Nik Amir Mustapha (filmmaker, Terbaik Dari Langit); Paul Gan (filmmaker, The Boy Who Rocked The World); Effa Desa (film activist, Filemmakers Anonymous); and Winaldo Swastia (Indonesian filmmaker, Angin) among others.

Furthermore, the forum traces the development of short films in Malaysia, discuss how local stories can be made and travel well beyond borders, and highlight the impact of digital technology on the mainstream Malaysian films and audiences.

Dato’ Ahmad Khusairi Abdul Talib, FINAS Chairman in his opening speech commended the initiative, “The forum is very timely with the proactive measures taken by FINAS to develop the Malaysian film industry. I also hope that by participating in this forum, aspiring filmmakers will be more knowledgeable of the current film industry, thus creating positive impact in the future.”

The 3rd Young Filmmakers Forum is organised by Institute of Arts and Media Studies, Malaysia (SEMESTA), in association with National Film Development Corporation (FINAS) and Creative Content Industry Guild (CCIG).
