Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) in collaboration with the National Creative Industry Trust Foundation (YAIKK) launched the Kuala Lumpur Sci Fi Convention 2015 at The Kuala Lumpur Library, Dataran Merdeka in conjunction with the launch of the movie ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ today.
Kuala Lumpur Sci Fi Convention will be held for three days starting 18-20 December 2015 at The Kuala Lumpur Library, Dataran Merdeka from 10am to 6pm. Among the highlights of the event are exhibitions on a collection of vintage science fiction models from Lego, Gundam, Macross, Transformers as well as seminars by renowned experts in film industry such as Aziz M Osman and Jeong Chung Phouch.
Kuala Lumpur Mayor, Datuk Mhd Amin Nordin Abd Aziz said that he is confident with such event like KL Sci Fi Convention will mark Dataran Merdeka as the iconic venue for Kuala Lumpur for any upcoming prestigious events.
“Apart from that, this event was in line with the efforts of DBKL to look for new ideas and innovations to attract visitors to this federal capital,” he added.
Alongside the Mayor officiating the event includes Dato’ Kamil Othman, Director General of FINAS, Datuk Zulkifli Ishak, Board Member of The National Creative Industry Trust Foundation, and YM Tuan Idzawi bin Raja Ismail, Director of Cultural, Arts and Sports Department DBKL.
Visitors of KL Sci Fi Convention will be able to enjoy a Street Parade featuring cosplayers representing popular science fiction themes like Star Wars, Star Trek, Robots and many more.
