The Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Razak launched Creative Industry Lifelong Learning Program (CILL) with dedicated theme #EKSPRESIF (Expressing Creativity for Progressive Generation) at FINAS booth during the MINDA 2016 program, organised by the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia today in Sarawak.
CILL is a government-initiated program through FINAS to encourage the attainment of formal recognition for the creative talents and support the creative content industry practitioners to foster their knowledge and skills. CILL #EKSPRESIF will focus on technically inclined youth to pursue their study in any local recognised public, private, industrial and association accredited centres, community colleges and polytechnics.
The brand, CILL #EKSPRESIF signifies the roles of FINAS in addressing the talent needs of the industry through enabling youths with the right skill sets. The program offers three types of grants to two types practitioners; those who are without working experience in the industry and school leavers who are keen to pursue their study in the creative content field. A series of outreach activities will be organised starting this year to engage more public who are interested in the program.
“The creative content industry is projected to generate annual revenues of RM 7.2 billion and 50,000 job opportunities by 2020. Thus, it is the right time for the government to introduce CILL #EKSPRESIF as it provides a strategic platform for youths from impoverished backgrounds to improve their future by obtaining professional certification or academic credentials in creative content fields of study such as directing, animation, games development, visual and special effects,” said the Prime Minister.
