Malaysia’s leading hub for publishers, authors and readers; Perbadanan Kota Buku in collaboration with Kumpulan Media Karangkraf and the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) launched the world’s first publishing to media pitching competition titled, Page to Pitch (P2P) Media 360 on 4th April 2016.

The competition aims to open up opportunities and provides a platform for budding writers to publish their ideas and develop established writers’ intellectual property (IP) into diverse digital media content. P2P Media 360 is divided into two categories; Idea to Publishing and Book to Development, with the theme of 'Adapting Books and Ideas into Digital Media.'

The first category promises aspiring writers an opportunity to publish their ideas into a publication with Karangkraf worth up to RM50,000 in value, while the second category targets established writers to turn their publication into diverse digital media contents such as feature film, TV series, animation, digital comics, games, apps and more. The winner of this category will receive a green lane for their application in the FINAS development grant worth up to RM500,000 in value.

“We are looking for stories with export ready potential that can successfully transition to other mediums both traditional and digital. With P2P Media 360, we are able to encourage the up and coming writers to not only participate in the competition seizing this great opportunity but also establishing that benchmark for quality creative writing,” said Sayed Munawar Sayed Mohd Mustar, CEO of Kota Buku.

Ms. Firdaus Husamuddin, Executive Publisher of Grup Buku Karangkraf  added, “We hope that this platform will be the stepping stone for budding writers into the publishing industry and we also hope that P2P Media 360 bridges the gap for the publishing and the whole creative industry.”
