Back on stage after six years, Anugerah Seri Angkasa 2016 (ASA 2016) received an overwhelming response from local broadcasters, recording a total of 756 submissions from 43 major TV and radio stations to compete in 57 categories.

Organised by RTM under the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia, ASA 2016 acts as a medium to reward Malaysian broadcasters for their effort in producing the best content for Malaysian audience, and developing the entertainment industry.

Submission for the application to compete for the award was opened since end of 2015, and RTM once again recorded the highest number of participations with 249 submissions. This was closely followed by Astro with 227 submissions and Media Prima with 159 submissions. ASA 2016 also saw TV Al-hijrah's first participation since its establishment, with 14 submissions.

Furthermore, ASA 2016 will take the initiative to reward the workforce behind the screen, as it will award the ‘Best TV Cameraman,’ ‘Best TV Camera Crew,’ ‘Best TV Promo,’ ‘Best TV Montage’ and ‘Best TV Program Editing.’

Dato' Sri Dr Sharifah Zarah Syed Ahmad. Secretary General Ministry of Communications and Multimedia revealed, “Each award category will be judged by a panel of professional judges such as academicians, artistes and industry experts. This proves only the best will be awarded and upheld in the upcoming ASA 2016.”

The award ceremony, which will take place on 20th and 21st May 2016 at the Auditorium Perdana Angkasapuri will be broadcasted live on RTM, Astro Ria, TonTon (Media Prima) and Suria FM at 9.30 pm.
