Malaysia's award-winning multi-platform travel channel, GOASEAN unveiled its two new original series, The Eco Traveller and The Halal Foodie in conjunction with its first anniversary. Established to further highlight the beauty and mystery of Southeast Asia' exotic destinations, the new travel shows are slated to be aired on GOASEAN starting June 2016.
The Eco Traveller, which recently claimed Silver and Bronze awards at the 37th Annual Telly Awards 2016, captures the journey of host Rovilson Fernandez as he travels through the greener side of Southeast Asia. The show, apart from promoting the region's travel destinations, also bring to light environmental issues relating to the growth of tourism.
“You will also learn how to respect the community and the culture of these ASEAN countries when you play an active part with them in preserving and sustaining the nature,” said Rovilson who is also the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Ambassador.
On the other hand, The Halal Foodie, which features Malaysian comedian and former radio announcer, Papi Zak highlights a different side of the region's food scene, as it embarks on a search for the best halal cuisine – both local and fusion style.
Within less than a year of operation, GOASEAN has garnered local and international recognition as the world's first ASEAN-centric channel, winning a total of 12 awards. Its programmes are now available through a wide range of platforms including ASTRO, iflix, and in-flight entertainment on several major airlines.
