Local Indie Film 'Kerja Kahwin' to Represent Malaysia at Apchat International Film Fest in France

Malaysian independent film, Kerja Kahwin (A Very Malay Wedding) is set to represent Malaysia at the upcoming Apchat International Film Festival in Apchat, France. The film, which is Wayang Pondok Sdn Bhd's first production, will be opening the stage on 26th July 2016 during the One Country, One Film segment, followed by another screening on 29th July 2016.

Held from 28th to 30th July 2016, this year marks the 7th instalment of the Apchat International Film Festival that aimed to promote cultural exchange between countries.

Kerja Kahwin tells the story of Farah who had to move her wedding venue back in her hometown, a small village in order to fulfil the promise to her grandmother. Featuring established and new actors such as Dato' Rosnani Jamil, Shahruddin Thamby, Aziz M. Osman, and Janna Nick among others, the movie highlights the culture and uniqueness of a traditional wedding in a village. 

The film director, Anwardi Jamil said that he is proud and honoured to showcase the cultural film abroad and hopes that the audience will enjoy the film. He also expressed his gratitude to the Associate Producer, Sarah Tang as they managed to wrap up filming in five days under her “excellent management” and Imagica Southeast Asia for sponsoring the outstanding post-production work.

To-date, the film is being screened at several Felda towns across Malaysia.
