Project Dialog in collaboration with National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) and Pusat Kajian & Apresiasi Filem will be organising its inaugural Pesta Filem Kita. Held in concurrent with Malaysia Day, the event will take place on the 17th of September 2016 at Content Malaysia Pitching Centre.
The festival aims to address issues in filmmaking from a sosiocultural perspective, and will feature a series of critical discourse and discussions on local films and showcase a list of promising young talents in filmmaking.
One of the highlights of the festival is the premiere screening of five short films; Yang Hilang by Muhammad Shahrazif, Fantasial by Daniyal Abd Kadir, Si Tommy by Kubendera Mahadevan, Living Alone on Bung Jagoi by Yow Chong Lee and Old Man's Dream by Lau Ung Ing.
These films were chosen through a competition held in conjunction with the festival for Malaysian aspiring filmmakers to showcase the unique identities of Malaysians through short films.
The five winners chosen from over 200 other participants, will also receive the Pesta Filem Kita Grant worth RM7,000 for those from Peninsula Malaysia, and RM9,000 for winners from Sabah and Sarawak.
Projek Dialog is a social discourse project that aims to promote healthy debate and understanding, within and among the diverse cultural, ethnic and religious groups in Malaysia.
