Nation’s first Tamil music video and short film competition, AGNI Showdown 2016 calls for aspiring filmmakers to submit a five-minute short film,  based on the theme of ‘hope’ or ‘inspire’ and a music video for locally produced Tamil songs.

AGNI Showdown 2016 features two categories: Music Video and Short Film. Grand prize winners from each category will receive RM10,000 cash and the short films, together with Top 20 music videos will be officially screened at the 15th Deepavali Carnival on 26th October 2016. Two most popular videos will also receive the People’s Choice Awards based on online votes.

Organised by Agenda Suria Communication and TouchTronics Entertainment, with the support by Malaysian Indian Creative Content Council (MICCC), Special Unit Program for Socioeconomic Development of Indian Community (SEDIC) and FINAS, the contest aims to empower the upcoming Indian creative content makers to further drive and equip themselves to face the challenges of global competitions.

Jaggaro Simancha, CEO of Agenda Suria Communication reiterated, “We believe that the new generations have a lot of talent but lack of opportunity to showcase their ability. Hence, we joined hands with MICCC to provide a creative platform to ensure that their creative and innovative ideas go to the right channel.”

“AGNI Showdown 2016 is a good opportunity and platform especially for young Indian filmmakers to explore new ideas and stories. FINAS hopes the competition will produce more outstanding talents for our film industry,” said Azmir Mutalib, Senior Director of Commercial and Innovation Development Division, FINAS. He also added that the agency will award the winners a total of RM30,000 Micro Fund to further develop their winning content.

Submission is currently open until 7th October 2016.
