DigiCon6 Malaysia Announces Winners, Shiroku Production to Represent Malaysia at DigiCon6 Asia

Veedo, the host of DigiCon6 Malaysia, supported by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) announced five local winners for the short film competition. The winning short films will be forwarded to DigiCon6 Asia Award competition and the Gold Award winner will represent Malaysia in Japan to compete with the best entries from all over the region.

Shiroku Production's Last Lonely Night came on top as the short film scores the Gold Award, simultaneously landing the production house a trip to Tokyo to represent Malaysia and face off nine other countries' representatives at DigiCon6 Asia this year.

Written and directed by Peter Chin, Last Lonely Night showcases experimental film noir treatment and tells the story of an American detective pursuing a mysterious lover across continents to British Malaya in 1930s.

The Silver Awards were conferred to Glow Production’s 3D animation titled The Last Tree and Aiman Aliff for his short film, Rubik. Whereas both Next Generation Award and the Audience Choice Award were presented to Zaifirull Amry Khari bin Zulkhairi for his short film, Again.

Set to be held on 19th November 2016 in Tokyo, Japan, the 18th DigiCon6 Asia is a yearly competition hosted by Tokyo Broadcast System (TBS) to seek out new ideas across Asia and to showcase them to potential buyers and collaborators worldwide.

Last year, Malaysia was represented by Tan Ce Ding’s March 9, 1993; which tells the story of an ambitious young man who goes above and beyond to achieve his dream of becoming a state football player.
