Astro Shaw’s box office hits, Polis Evo won the Gold Award in the ‘Best Entertainment Campaign’ category at the recent PMAA Dragons of Malaysia, organised by Promotion Marketing Awards of Asia (PMAA) at Sime Darby Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur.
Competing against 45 other finalists, Astro made history as the first corporate company to win the most coveted award as previously the title was mainly conferred to an agency. The shortlisted campaigns were judged by industry specialists based on the development, execution, presentation and result.
Directed by Ghaz Abu Bakar, Polis Evo is currently the highest-grossing Malaysian film with over RM17 million at the box office. According to Astro, the film also became the most influential film with a digital performance reach and a total digital view across social media platforms.
Raja Jastina Arshad, Head of Branding, Malay Marketing and Astro Gempak who was honoured to receive the award also revealed that Polis Evo 2 is now in the early stages of production. The second installment of the action flick is tentatively set to screen next year.
The PMAA Dragons of Asia has been the platform for the recognition of the very best in Marketing Communications across Asia Pacific since 2000. This year’s winners are also qualified to enter the 30th Marketing Agencies Association (MAA) GLOBES Recognition Award, which recognised the very “Best of the Best” Campaigns from every country in the World.
