Dato' Kamil Othman, Director General of the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS), has been re-elected as the Vice President of Asian Film Commissions Network (AFCNet), at the recent General Assembly of AFCNet at Busan Film Commission in South Korea.
Reinstated for another two years, Dato’ Kamil revealed that FINAS will continue to support the advancement and promotion of excellence in the global production, whilst encouraging the development and distribution of local productions, in addition to supporting the climate of entrepreneurship, technology, and intellectual properties in the global market.
“FINAS’ strong partnership in this platform is highly beneficial to drive the new domestic ecosystem by bringing potential foreign investors into Malaysia and generating many more international co-productions with Malaysian companies,” he added.
Following his re-election, Dato’ Kamil will continue to represent Malaysia at the Asian Content Business Summit (ACBS) as the Vice President of AFCNet, to find solutions in the creative multimedia industry through the sharing of information and best practices among the member countries.
AFCNet is Asia's first and largest non-profit international film-related organisation, which facilitates information sharing among 59 film commissions and government agencies from 18 countries including Korea, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan.
