Malaysian delegation at MIPCOM 2016
The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (KKMM) Malaysia, together with the National Film Development Corporation (FINAS) led the Malaysian delegation of over 40 creative companies including Primeworks Studios, Animasia Studio, Animonsta Studios, GOASEAN, Double Vision, and others to MIPCOM, the world's leading entertainment content market in Cannes, France from 17th to 20th October 2016.
This year, the companies brought myriad of creative content including award-winning animations, film, TV series, documentary, digital application and others with the hope to export and attract foreign studios to co-produce the content.
Dato' Mohid Mohamed, the Deputy Secretary-General (Policy), KKMM commented, “By increasing the foreign investment into the country through strategies, incentives and government initiatives through FINAS, Malaysia certainly has the potential to become a hub of creative content with global standards.”
As the facilitator, FINAS hopes that the marketing mission to MIPCOM this year will increase the export of Malaysian creative content to hit the potential export value of RM240 million.
Last year, six Malaysian animation studios; Animasia Studio, Vision Animation, Funcel, Frogtale Studios, Giggle Garage, and Lil’ Critter Workshop inked co-production deals with several global companies worth over RM15 million at MIPCOM 2015.
