Jess Teong has announced the sequel to her multi-award winning film, The Kid from the Big Apple titled Before We Forget, which will be screened by the end of next year.
Set to begin shooting in the middle of November 2016, Before We Forget highlights the importance of family ties, traditional values, and carries a key message of “it’s never too late to express your love.”
“I like to write and direct a movie about life; something real. So when it comes to the matter, you can’t avoid love and relationship – and the complication behind it,” said the director on her second film.
Besides the main original line-ups; Tommy Tam (Ti Lung), Sarah Tan and Jason Tan, the sequel will feature two new faces; Malaysian actress, Debbie Goh and Hong Kong’s rising star, Shaun Tam.
“As a father, when I watched the first film – I dropped my tears. And when I read the script for the second film, it really strikes a chord in my heart as it portrays how you go through the different relationship stages in life and I believe this film will deliver the message clearly,” said Shaun Tam on how Jess’ script pulls him into starring in the sequel.
The Kid from the Big Apple was a box-office success, garnering over RM6 million in ticket sales and various international recognitions such as Macau International Movie Festival 2015 Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Newcomer and Best Writing.
