Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza Dominates AIM 22 with Five Awards

Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza won big at the 22nd Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM 22) with five awards; ‘Best Album’ for Unplugged, ‘Best Vocal Performance in a Song (Female)’ for Menatap Dalam Mimpi, ‘Best Arrangement in a Song’ for Menatap Dalam Mimpi, ‘Best Nasyid Song’ for Mikraj Cinta, and ‘Best Malaysian Singer.’

Nominated in seven categories this year, the singer has garnered a total of 42 wins to-date at AIM, including seven ‘Best Album’ titles. Her Unplugged album, which was executive produced by herself and Mujahid Abdul Wahab was recorded during her 20th anniversary celebration concert in 2015 at Istana Budaya.

The 18-track album also comprises of three new songs including Menatap Dalam Mimpi and Mikraj Cinta which garnered her ‘Best Vocal Performance in a Song (Female),’ ‘Best Arrangement in a Song,’ and ‘Best Nasyid Song’ awards this year.

“I’m thankful to everyone who has supported me thus far, including all the judges who still believe in me and the quality of my music and album,” said Dato’ Siti who also walked away with the ‘Best Album’ title at AIM 21 with Fragmen.

Another vocal powerhouse, Faizal Tahir won two awards; Best Song and Best Pop Song for his single, Sejati which is included in his latest album Anatomi. Whereas, Yuna and Datuk Sheila Majid received the Special Award; ‘Kembara Award’ and ‘Sri Wirama Award’ for their achievement in the music industry.

Organised by the Recording Industry Association of Malaysia (RIM), AIM 22 which was held at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) in Kuala Lumpur on 18th December 2016 is the only award that recognises Malaysian music talents based on merit and quality of work by a panel of independent judges comprising the country music players and experts in related fields.
