Established in 2005, the Apollo Awards acknowledges niche specialties in production and post-production with its combination of first class judges with extensive academic knowledge and industry expertise as well as support with results scoring from global auditing firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers.

There are 21 categories open to entries this year, including the recently introduced ‘Immersive Experience (Virtual Reality Experience)’ besides direction, cinematography, editing, art direction, music composition, sound design, colour grading, visual effects, motion graphics and animation.

Broadcasters, production and post production house, as well as advertising agencies are all invited to submit entries that have been aired, released or distributed for the first time from 1st January 2016 through 31st December 2016 for review and selection. Submission is open until 28th February 2017.

Last year, local public broadcaster Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) received the award in the ‘Art Direction’ category for their drama, Rekah. Award recipient, Abdul Shuhadi Mohamed Amin commented, “I'm very happy to have won the Apollo Awards. This is a team effort and I'm sure I'll be back next time.”
