The Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival (KLEFF) has announced the call for entries for its tenth annual festival, set to be held from 23rd to 29th October 2017 at Black Box, Publika.
Aimed to promote and mobilise environmental actions among Malaysians through a multi-faceted cinematic experience, the festival encourages local and international filmmakers to submit their environmental stories to the festival’s film competition; where eight award categories will be up for grabs, including Best Film, Best Documentary, Best Animation, Best PSA, and others.
Keeping up with the theme of ‘Call for Action,’ the festival is looking for films of all genres and lengths that promote positive environmental action in communities, businesses and governments. Submitted films will be judged by professional juries based on the environmental content and the technical aspects of filmmaking.
The call for entries will close on 30th June 2017 and finalists will be announced in early August. Winning and finalist films will be subsequently showcased at the festival’s screening theatre, in addition to receiving cash and prizes worth up to RM5,000.
Organised by the non-profit environmental organization, EcoKnights, in collaboration with MAP and Publika, the festival also includes four days of green market, youth and corporate forums on sustainability, art exhibition, music and performances, filmmaking workshops, and more throughout the week.
