Malaysian author, Maslina Yusoff is set to adapt her 9-part children’s book series titled, Mila into a 52-episode animation series following a memorandum of understanding with H Culture, one of South Korea’s leading studios – which was signed on 28th April 2017 at the Kuala Lumpur Trade and Copyright Centre 2017.

Planned for international release in two years, the animation series will be in English and is set to target 3 to 9 years old children. The development is set to take two years to complete and H Culture will be the sole agency to market the series globally.

The book, which is currently in the Top 50 on Amazon China follows Mila, a little girl with a big curly hair - inspired by Maslina’s daughter as she grows up. For the animation series, Maslina will expand the characters in Mila’s world and will take part as a scriptwriter and supervise the characters’ development.

“I’m really excited to see Mila comes to ‘life’ through the animation series and I’m humbled that my character has garnered attention from an international studio. I believe it will be well-received by everyone and hope it will go far,” said Maslina Yusoff.

Sukhwa Hong, President and Animation Director of H Culture added: “I fell in love with the character as Mila is not just a unique character, but the book tells a warm-hearted story which I think will resonate well with the audiences.”

A 2-minute trailer for the brand new animation will be released in September this year.
