Media Prima Television Networks (MPTN) has inked a strategic marketing partnership agreement with Singtel to bring its popular OTT streaming service, tonton, to Singapore. The partnership marks tonton’s first venture outside of Malaysia.
Starting next month, tonton will be offered on Singtel’s CAST OTT video portal app with over 25,000 hours of top-rated Malay-language entertainment. Customers can also look forward to a fully customised user experience plus specially curated content for the Singapore audience.
In addition, the platform offers exclusive live events such as Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian (ABPBH) and Mentor Milenia, as well as top-rated Malaysian dramas up to 6 months before TV broadcast and more.
Media Prima Television Networks (MPTN) Chief Executive Officer Datuk Kamal Khalid said: “Our aim is to grow tonton both locally and internationally. Locally, we strive to upgrade tonton services and offerings in order to give high value for money to our users. Internationally, we hope to expand the brand and its content reach in order to cater to the needs of our fans who reside outside of Malaysia while helping to share our local content to the world.”
Mr Goh Seow Eng, Managing Director of Home, Consumer Singapore, Singtel, commented: “OTT content plays a major role in our strategy to connect with customers and we are always looking to satisfy their diverse viewing needs by delivering more on-the-go premium content to their multiple devices. We expect tonton’s ethnic content to be a great hit with them.”
The partnership was inked recently on the sidelines of APOS 2017, Asia's premier event for the media, telecoms and entertainment industry, held in Bali, Indonesia.
