Lemon Sky Animation, a top Malaysian-based independent Computer Generated Imaging (CGI) animation studio, recently held a one-day-only event on June 5, 2017 at its office in Petaling Jaya to commemorate its 10th anniversary in the animation and visual effects arena.
The event was a hit and it garnered over 1,000 visitors who were treated to an array of activities such as a studio tour, design talks by the studio’s leading animation and production members along with a custom-made gaming platform which gave them a chance to get a feel of the best games made by Lemon Sky itself.
There was also a photo wall on display made up of Lemon Sky’s past projects and artworks, charting its major milestones in the journey of becoming one of the biggest CGI animation studios in Malaysia.
Cheng Fei Wong, CEO and Executive Producer of Lemon Sky, stated: “When it comes to CGI and animation, the talent pool in the Malaysia continues to grow, with more and more talented artists emerging. What we are doing today is just a small step towards inspiring these students by sharing what goes into the making of a studio, and we hope this will encourage them to build a career path in the animation and gaming industry.”
Lemon Sky Animation initially started off with only 11 employees back in 2006 and today, the studio is thriving with 230 employees based in its offices in Selangor and Penang. It currently has more than 50 completed projects such as Gears of War 4, Dead Rising 4, FFXIV: Heavensward –The Far Edge of Fate, Tales of Zestria & Bestria, Gravity Rush 2, FIFA 14, Tekken 7, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, WWE 2K17 and Dark Soul, to name a few.
