WebTVAsia Signs Top Indian Digital Studio Pocket Aces for Exclusive China Distribution on Alibaba’s Youku-Tudou

WebTVAsia,  Malaysia’s leading multi-platform digital media entertainment company, continues its Asian expansion by signing an exclusive distribution agreement with India’s top digital video studio, Pocket Aces for the China market.

This represents WebTVAsia’s first significant move in India to collaborate with a major player, and like wise, Pocket Aces as the first Indian video powerhouse to enter China, the world’s biggest Internet market with over 731 million users.

Commenting on the collaboration, Fred Chong, Group CEO of WebTVAsia reiterated, “WebTVAsia’s Celebrate Asia vision of unifying the most popular and influential Asian creators by showcasing their content to the world, is becoming closer in reality. Having already establishing ourselves in 10 Asian countries, we are now very pleased to have Pocket Aces as our partner in India, representing such a massive and important market. Equally vital is our long-term collaboration with Youku-Tudou, where new market entry opportunities into China are now much more accessible to our regional content partners.”.

The partnership kicks off with WebTVAsia’s China division wholly managing, localising and promoting videos from two of Pocket Aces’ most successful brands “Filtercopy” and “Gobble”, on the Alibaba-owned video platform: Youku-Tudou. New videos of “Filtercopy”, a shareable comedy genre and “Gobble”, focusing on cooking recipes, are scheduled for release once a week each. Discussions on further plans to introduce original scripted brand, “Dice Media” are in progress. All 3 brands have achieved a combined 350 million organic views on various platforms.

WebTVAsia officially signed as Youku-Tudou’s first global strategic partner in June to source the most popular short form video content worldwide, as part of Alibaba Digital Media Entertainment Group’s new RMB 2 billion major initiative, “The Big Fish Plan” to revolutionise China’s online video ecosystem.
