Sudirman does not need any introduction especially for fellow Malaysians. The much-beloved singer has brought together fans with his chart-topping songs including Balik Kampung, Tanggal 31 and Chow Kit Road. Who would forget the unforgettable concert he did at Chow Kit Road where over 100,000 thousand people flocked to see him perform?
For his legacy to continue on, The Actors Studio is putting up a musical tribute to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the singer’s passing, One Thousand Million Smiles, directed by theatre icon, Dato’ Faridah Merican. You can catch it live at The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC) from 26th to 28th October.
Backed with KLPAC Orchestra and ETA Band, you can expect extravagant 80’s musical numbers performed by returning singer from last year’s production, Amir Hazril Harith and other talented performers such as Malaysian Idol finalist Nikki Palikat, and winner of NTV7’s Audition reality TV show, Tria Aziz.
Faridah said, “When we staged One Thousand Million Smiles last year, we had no idea how it would be received. We were blessed with full houses and a standing ovation night after night. His spirit was well and truly alive as people from all walks of life sang and clapped along. Unfortunately, many did not have the chance to experience it because it sold out. So, we will be bringing it back for all you Sudirman fans and for Sudirman.”
