Back in 2004, Malaysian well-known celebrity Carrie Lee brought pride to the nation by successfully outdoing a total of 9,335 contestants from all over the globe to nab the coveted International Beauty Queen title in Miss Chinese Cosmos International 2004. Thirteen years have passed since then but Carrie still manages to steal the spotlight by putting forth her very own luxurious dining pageant with the highest prize value the country has ever witnessed – Miss CosmoWorld 2017.
Announced yesterday at a press conference held at Quill City Mall, the pageant, set to take place on November 12 at The St Regis, Kuala Lumpur, will be giving away a total value of RM370,000 in cash prizes and over RM800,000 in prizes, vacation trips, acting opportunities along with other lucrative prizes.
These will be broken down to be given away to the top three winners along with the other 13 subsidiary titles: Miss Elegant, Miss Personality, Miss Charming, Miss Popularity, Miss Perfect Body, Miss Beautiful Smile, Miss Glamorous, Miss Photogenic, Miss Perfect Skin, Miss Talent, Best Creativity, Best National Costume, and Miss Environmental Friendly.
Although Carrie has had 12 years of experience in running beauty pageants in Malaysia as well as Southeast Asia, this marks the first time the veteran beauty queen is collaborating with CL Skin Sdn Bhd to organise the Miss CosmoWorld pageant.
The 31-year-old resilient woman stands firm that it is only through her many wins that she has gained valuable experiences and opportunities in this field. She hopes that through this pageant, she will be able to open up the same platform of opportunities and experiences to budding beauty queens by grooming them to be independent and passionate about life while honing great leadership qualities.
As a means of giving back to the society, proceeds from Miss CosmoWorld 2017 will be donated charity homes such as Spastic Children’s Association of Selangor & Federal Territory, Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak (Kirtarsh Home Bukit Beruntung), Pusat Kebajikan Mesra Megah Ria Johor Bahru, and Salvation Army Boys Home.
Concurrently, as Carrie is an ambassador of Disaster Aid Malaysia (DAM), she will be teaming up with the association to organise a charity dinner for orphanage homes and disaster relief work as well as a project centering on making handcraft items with spastic children association of Johor Bahru. There will also be a Miss Glamorous Selection event with UMLand which is set to raise funds for Persatuan Kebajikan Mesra Megah Ria Johor Bahru from November 6 to 9.
During the press conference, the organisers also announced the contestants who have made the Top 6 Miss Talent list – Michelle Chen (China), Nitcharium Phengchaem (Thailand), Bamboo Chen (China), Melissa Chua (Singapore), Jomtian (Germany), as well as Kim Jiseon and Im Somi (Korea).
