Malaysia, Hong Kong and China dominated PIFFA SUPREME AWARDS 2017

The PIFFA Supreme Awards 2017 saw Malaysia nabbing three awards followed by Hong Kong and China with four and two awards respectively. The event took place last Sunday at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in conjunction with the PROFIMA International Film Festival and Awards.

The award ceremony was a prestigious event to recognize hard work and significant contributions of actors and actresses, film crews and stunt professionals from 11 different countries. The primary aim was to serve as a motivation for them to produce more high-quality creative contents and in turn generate higher revenue and ratings.

Many local and international stars graced their presence to the ceremony such as Gurmit Singh (Phua Chu Kang), Winnie K, Fauziah Ahmad Daud (Ogy), Josie Ho, Reza Rahadian and Phillip Keung. The award show was hosted by Cody Tan and Mei Sim. Hong Kong veteran star, Ti Lung who was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award, also attended this event ahead of the premiere for the upcoming Malaysian film, The Kid From The Big Apple 2: Before We Forget, which he starred in.

Best Director Award: Stanley Tong - Kung Fu Yoga (CHINA-HONG KONG)

Best Actor Award: Farhad Aslani - Daughter (IRAN)

Best Actress Award: Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying - Bad Genius (THAILAND)

Best Supporting Actor Award: Philip Keung - Shock Wave (Hong Kong)

Best Supporting Actress Award: Josie Ho - In The Room (HONG KONG – SINGAPORE)

Best Screenplay: Jess Teong - The Kid from the Big Apple (MALAYSIA)

Best Cinematography Award: Ying Zhang - Dealer/Healer ( HONG KONG)

Best Stunt Team Award: Jacky Chan / Stanley Tong / Wu Gang – Kung Fu Yoga (CHINA-HONG KONG)

Best Film Editor Award: Chung Wai Chiu -Shock Wave (Hong Kong)

Best Art Director Award: Steven Tang - Long Long Time Ago (SINGAPORE)

Best Original Film Music Award: Jun-Seong Kim - The TENOR (SOUTH KOREA, JAPAN, SERBIA)

Best Film Award: Bad Genius (THAILAND)

Most Promising Award: Truong The Vinh - MISS, MISS, MISS...AND MISS! (VIETNAM)

Best Newcomer: John Tan - You Mean the World to Me (MALAYSIA) &

                              Ashok Kumar - Priyamudan Priya (INDIA)

Best Newcomer: Mahoor Alvand – Daughter (IRAN)

Best New Director: Neal Wu - At Cafe 6 (TAIWAN)
