Malaysia’s Yoki Chin, the Chief Executive Officer of Point Studios and President of Point College, was honoured during the recent PROFIMA International Film Fest & Awards (PIFFA) 2017 with the Anugerah Tokoh PROFIMA (Filem) 2017. The event was witnessed by Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak, Minister of Multimedia and Communications.
Yoki has always played a crucial role in animation, feature films, commercials, television programmes and the overall creative content in Malaysia. He has also contributed immensely to develop and safeguard the welfare and the interests of industry players.
This cause is driven by his position as the President of Post Production, Animation and Creative Content Association Malaysia (POSTAM) and Honorary Secretary of Creative Content Association Malaysia (CCAM).
In order to prepare the budding talents for the creative arts and content industry, Yoki has established Point College. This institute offers tertiary level courses in related disciplines, with teaching and training conducted by industry experts.
Over the years, Yoki has been honoured with over 100 local and international awards. He is currently directing ‘Twelve’, a China-Malaysia co-production action feature film, along with ‘King of Shadows’, an international animated feature film.
During the prestigious event held on November 7 at Putra World Trade Centre, the Point Group, including Filmpoint, Creative Media Point and Point College were also recognised for their contributions by nabbing top awards across several categories amidst challenging fields.
Filmpoint successfully won the award for Best Commercial for its Tourism Malaysia’s ‘Your Favourite Memories (Global)’, while Creative Media Point attained the award for Best Animation for its ‘DDee’. Meanwhile, Goh Kwee Tew, a Point College student, won the Best Short Film and the Best Team Work awards for the film titled, ‘Left’.
