In the spirit of giving back during the holidays, tonton and Big Bad Wolf (BBW) jointly organised the Ejen Ali Day Out yesterday at MIECC, The Mines. A total of 30 children from Pusat Jagaan Anak Yatim dan Miskin Sri Kundang, Rawang were presented with contributions during the event that was held in conjunction with the Big Bad Wolf Book Fair 2017, happening from December 8 – 18.

The Ejen Ali Day Out, a part of the Misi: Big Bad Wolf programme, aims to encourage the love of reading in children as well as to give them the opportunity to have a fun-filled excursion with interactive activities during the school holidays.

The children received new reading materials courtesy of BBW – a special selection from their 4.5 million books in Malay, English and Chinese. They were also presented with back-to-school supplies by Ejen Ali, who was accompanied by his pet cat Comot.

“We hope our humble contribution is able to alleviate some of the expenses by Pusat Jagaan Anak Yatim dan Miskin Sri Kundang for the children. We are thankful also to our partners, BBW, who have been extremely generous with their contributions and support in making this event a success,” said Airin Zainul, Director of tonton and Licensing & Merchandising

Meanwhile, Usamah Zaid, Chief Executive Officer of Wau Animation & the creator of Ejen Ali expressed, “BBW’s mission of improving the nation through reading habits was baffling to me – that is why we jumped on the opportunity to collaborate with them when it came.”

“Ejen Ali has been heavily influential and that gives us a huge responsibility in projecting good values to the fans. We want to inspire the act of doing good; especially to children,” added Usamah.

Speaking on the animation series itself, Usamah explained that Ejen Ali presents a fresh genre in the local scene. He believes that aside from the exciting spy-centric content, it is its good visuals that attract audiences.

There was an array of activities during the event which included a spontaneous dialogue session by the voice of Ejen Ali along with other characters, a meet-and-greet with the Ejen Ali mascot, colouring competition, Ejen Ali quiz session as well as a “Bonus Hour” for the sale of Ejen Ali merchandises.

Actress Niena Baharun was also present at the event as a show of support in the success of the charity event.

Ejen Ali, currently available for free viewing on www.tonton.com.my, airs on TV3 every Friday at 5.30pm.
