The biopic on the iconic Malaysian professional shuttler titled Lee Chong Wei: Rise Of The Legend is set to hit various cinemas all over Asia. Aside from Malaysia, the heart-warming true story will be shown in countries such as Singapore, Taiwan, Macau, and Hong Kong, as announced by film producer Josiah Chieng at a press conference held at Quill City Mall.

He also revealed that they are currently in negotiation to have the film exported to Indonesia, Japan and China. On top of that, the RM6 million budget film has already started receiving invitations to premiere in several international film festivals.

Refusing to rest on their laurels, Josiah stressed that they are also working towards making their entrance into the Western countries.

During the press conference, Akademi Fantasia 2013 contestant Nabila Razali and social media star-turned-singer Priscilla Abby were revealed as the singers behind the film's soundtrack Cahaya Juara. Datuk Rosyam Nor also took centre stage to describe his experience playing the role of the legendary Datuk Misbun Sidek.

Speaking at the event, Datuk Rosyam exclaimed, “I’m thankful for the Internet as I this was my main medium used to study Datuk Misbun’s way of speaking, behaviour, body language and personality.” However, he stressed that it is impossible to portray Datuk Misbun’s character entirely thus he had employed various ad-lib dialogues to make it more realistic.

Aside from Datuk Rosyam, the press conference was also attended by film producer Ben Lee, Tosh Chan (as adult Chong Wei), Jake Eng (as young Chong Wei), Ashley Hua (as Datin Wong Mew Choo), and Agnes Lim (as Chong Wei’s sister).

Lee Chong Wei: Rise of The Legend world premiere, set to take place on March 9 at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium, is slated to attract a 20,000 crowd alongside Datuk Wira Lee Chong Wei and members of the triumphant Malaysian Thomas Cup 1992 team. The special director’s cut, running for 133 minutes, will be shown on a large 40mx17m LED screen. This is said to catapult the film into the Asia Book of Records and The Malaysia Book of Records as the largest movie screening in the country.

Currently, the RM168 Gold tickets have been sold out but the RM88 World, RM108 Bronze and RM128 Silver tickets are still available for purchase from the Box Office at Axiata Arena, KL Sports City Bukit Jalil. Meanwhile, online purchases can be done via www.leechongweimovie.com.

Each ticket buyer will be entitled to one Lee Chong Wei: Rise Of The Legend movie T-shirt, one ticket to watch the film in GSC cinemas, one pre-autographed event poster along with a movie bag.

The official 110 minute film will be hitting local cinemas on March 15.
