Malaysia Owned Company, WebTVAsia Signed 3 Exclusive International Deals Aimed To Penetrate Global Market

WebTVAsia has recently announced the signing international deals which include co-production agreement with Ciwen Media Group (“Ciwen”), MTV short-form content collaboration deal with Viacom International Media Networks, a division of Viacom Inc. (NASDAQ: VIA, VIAB) and Strategic Partnership with Baidu Hao Kan Platform to Source Content from International Studios and Creators.

In the first agreement with Ciwen Media Group, a public-listed China studio giant that produced over 20,000 hours of highest rated drama content, and WebTVAsia have agreed to co-develop and co-produce “Gangsters of Shanghai” (“Gangsters”), an original story based on a novel by Gerry O’Sullivan, with an undisclosed budget in the tens of millions US dollars.

The second deal Viacom International Media Networks, WebTVAsia will have exclusive streaming rights to select made-in-China short-form content from the MTV library to be streamed on WebTVAsia’s partner platforms in mainland China. At this initial stage, the made-in-China content is made available first on Tencent’s recently-launched Yoo Video, a short-form video app.

Meanwhile, under a strategic partnership with Baidu Hao Kan, WebTVAsia will become an official international content acquisition partner of Baidu Hao Kan. The two parties will work together to source premium short and long form content from leading studios and creators around the world.

All deals were singed exclusively at MIPCOM 2018 in Cannes, France. Malaysian National Delegation was led by YB Gobind Singh Deo, Minister of Communications & Multimedia and Shakib Ahmad Syakir, Acting Director General of the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS).
