Director and actor Ahmad Idham Ahmad Nadzri has been newly appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Film Development Corporation (FINAS), effective March 11, 2019.
Communications and Multimedia Minister YB Gobind Singh Deo said that the decision was made by FINAS' Board of Directors and this action is according to the FINAS Act 1981 to replace acting Director General Shakib Ahmad Shakir, who had helmed the agency for the last four months, who also serves as the Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Communications & Multimedia.
“Ahmad Idham holds a degree in accounting from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) and has the expertise and experience in various creative fields in the past 25 years, as well as made records and received various awards, locally and overseas,” YB Gobind said in a statement. “I also hope that FINAS' board members will be able to give their full cooperation to Ahmad Idham in executing reforms, in accordance with the government's direction. Ahmad Idham’s tenure will be for two years.” he added.
Ahmad Idham Ahmad Nadzri has been in the entertainment industry since 1993. Among the movies he has appeared in are Mr Cinderella, Remp-It and Damping Malam, but he made his mark in the industry as a director in movies such as Gerimis Mengundang, Tipah Tertipu The Movie, Adnan Sempit and the 2007 horror flick Jangan Pandang Belakang.
