YB Tuan Chong Chieng Jen, Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade & Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP), officially launched the Malaysia Retail Chain Association (MRCA) Retail Conference 2019 at Pavilion Hotel Kuala Lumpur. The MRCA Retail Conference 2019 is themed “Retail Strikes Back”.
The retail conference, which is expected to attract over 500 participants, highlighted three stimulating panel sessions: New Retail Model, Retail Space Transformation and Battle of Bubble Tea. These sessions centred on discussions within the retail sector and equipped participants with necessary knowledge on ways to capitalize the current retail atmosphere
The said conference also features a segment that pits 5 bubble tea owners and operators together from Bryan Loo of Tealive to Nicholas Chong of JLD Dragon, with other brands such as Xing Fu Tang, The Alley and the Black Whale.
YB Dr. Ong Kian Ming, Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry is also expected to provide a keynote address at the conference.

YB Dr. Ong Kian Ming will also witness the handover of the “Retail Career Pathway Handbook” developed by the Productivity Nexus for Retail and F&B to the Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF) represented by its CEO, Mr. Elanjelian Venugopal and leading retail associations such as MRCA, Malaysia Retail Association (MRA), Malaysia Franchise Association (MFA) and Bumiputera Retail Organisation (BRO).
The handbook, developed by Pemandu Associates with the Nexus will form the basis of human capital training and certification, which is supported by HRDF. It is part of the effort of the Nexus, led by the Associations to professionalize the retail industry consistent with the National Productivity Blueprint.

The MRCA Retail Conference 2019 is held in conjunction with MRCA’s Malaysia International Retail & Franchise (MIRF) 2019, which is held from 18th July to 20th July at Kuala Lumpur Conference Centre (KLCC).
