The Malaysia Chinese Women Entrepreneurs Association (MCWEA) recently held the Asian Women Entrepreneurs Awards (AWEA 2019) and Asian Women Entrepreneurship Business Forum at Kuala Lumpur. The award recognized and honored Puan Sri Datin Seri Dr Susan Cheah, EXCO member of Sunway Group, with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Asian Women Entrepreneurs Awards (AWEA) 2019 was founded to promote and enhance women leadership in business regionally by working collectively with the international women associations in the Asian region. The purpose of which is to unite and celebrate the legendary achievements of women with the objective of recognizing and to accolade women in business for their excellent achievements and contributions towards the industries and nation building as well as empowering women in business to excel further in their respective industries and to elevate them to be greater role models. The recipients of the award consist of business owners, corporate leaders and industry leaders; centralizing around the themes of achievement, leadership, inspiration, innovation and transformation.
Puan Sri Datin Seri Dr Susan Cheah has tirelessly dedicated her time, energy and skills to Sunway Group, a host of charitable organizations, the nation and essentially, women. As part of a charitable tribute, she has also authored six books, and remains committed to contributing to the well-being and progress of Sunway and the community at large.
Datin Sri Jessie Wong Siaw Puie, President of Malaysia Chinese Women Entrepreneurs Association (MCWEA), said, “In the past 3 years, we have seen our MCWEA sisters being active in corporations, government and charity work. Our theme is ‘New Frontiers and Beyond’, as we would like to grow beyond old frontiers and to expand both locally and overseas. I believe that MCWEA can become a shining example to women in business regionally. And it is our hope to welcome more prominent women entrepreneurs to join our team!”
The AWEA 2019 panel judges are Datin Sri Jessie Wong, Datuk Seri Nelson Kwok, Dato’ Sri Dr How Kok Choong, Datuk Michael Kang and Dato’ Winnie Lim.
Isabelle Liow PJK was awarded the MCWEA Most Outstanding Contribution Award 2019. This award is to recognize and celebrate the most outstanding MCWEA member in terms of their leadership example, personal initiative, resourcefulness and responsibility, level of commitment and contribution to the association above and beyond duty, their frequency of meeting attendance and gracious congeniality.
Asian Women Entrepreneurship Business Forum and Business Matching was with participants from China, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam.
