The Era of Digital Terrestrial Television Begins

MYTV Broadcasting Sdn Bhd has organised a one-day seminar titled, ‘Planet Digital Episode 2: Exploring a New World’ featuring renowned and high-profile local and international  industry speakers on 5th August 2015.

More than 350 participants representing key industry players came together for the event and discussed on the prospects of DTT in Malaysia and how the digital revolution would impact viewership, advertising spend, business and revenue opportunities.

High profile speakers from Malaysia include Ahmad Izham Omar (CEO of Media Prima Berhad), Jeremy Kung (Executive Vice President of New Media & CEO of TM Net), Manoj Menon (Managing Director of Asia Pacific & Senior Parner of Frost & Sullivan), Azlan Rudy Malik (COO of 1Malaysia For Youth) as well as MYTV’s very own Chief Operating Officer, Mohamed Redzwan Yahya.

While international speakers such as Junjiro Saito (Nippon TV Japan), Mikko Karppinen (Director of Icareus Limited, Finland) and Patrick Tong (Managing Director of Mei Ah Entertainment Authority of Singapore) shared their insights and experience of their respective countries in DTT migration.

Earlier this year, MYTV was appointed by Malaysia’s government to develop and operate the infrastructure and network facilities for DTT services in order to migrate the national broadcasting system from analogue to digital by 2017. The DTT infrastructure and network facilities includes a digital multimedia hub and a network of high, medium and low- powered digital TV transmitters that are capable of carrying and supplying up to 80 digital TV channels which include both standard definiition (SD) and high definition (HD) channels.
