Malaysia International Film Festival (MIFFest) has announced its fourth edition, MIFFest 2020, will take place on 5-10 December 2020. Unlike the previous years, MIFFest 2020 will exclude the competition events for the MIFFest Short Film Competition and the Malaysia Golden Global Awards (MGGA) as a recovery measure towards the COVID-19 pandemic. These events would involve large-scale gatherings and invitations/travel of international filmmakers, guests, and crews.
The MIFFest 2020 is themed "Humanity" and aimed to promote the spirit of togetherness and unity. This year, the festival will screen around 20 National and International films from these three categories: World Cinema Masterpieces, Highlights of Asian Cinema, and Spotlight on Malaysian Filmmakers.
Apart from that, MIFFest also plans to work with film institutions and film societies in Malaysia to host a series of events and workshops to encourage greater participation of students and young filmmakers. The festival will invite filmmakers to conduct film workshops that explore the arts and crafts of directing, editing, cinematography, screenwriting, acting, film production, film theories, and other film-related topics.
