With the world confronted by the disastrous Covid-19 Pandemic, it took an unprecedented toll on economies and people on a global scale. The outbreak has compelled borders to be at a close; thus, only inter-state travel is allowed in Malaysia. With the tourism industry being heavily impacted, the Selangor State Government, through its official Tourism Promotion Agency, Tourism Selangor is on gear-5 towards restoring the State's tourism industry.

Tourism Selangor promotes sports tourism as golf constitutes a prominent significance in the industry. Selangor is Malaysia's leading premier golf hub with 29 prestigious Golf Clubs across the State and is in line with their domestic tourism campaign; "Pusing Selangor Dulu" which was launched earlier in June 2020. Tourism Selangor has announced that they are the title sponsor for Selangor Golf Classic 2020, that will take place on 28 – 30 September 2020 at The Mines Resort & Golf Club (First Round) and Kota Permai Golf & Country Club (Finals). The prize pool of this tournament is RM100,000, plus a Hole-In-One Prize worth RM50,000 in golf holiday vouchers.

Mr Azrul Shah Mohamad, General Manager of Tourism Selangor mentioned that, "Tourism Selangor aims to penetrate the segmentation of sports and golf tourism, which poses a vast potential in drawing a significant number of tourists into the State, as well as contributes prominently towards the State’s economy".
