Known as the “Olympics” of performing arts, the World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) is the only competition of its kind to be held annually in Hollywood. It has now been 15 years since Malaysia's first participation in this competition. Since 2015, Team Malaysia has won the Grand Champion of the World title a total of seven times in the vocal, Dance, Instrumentals, Modeling, Acting, and Variety Acts categories.

MATME Sdn Bhd, the exclusive rights holder, has brought 160 contestants to compete in the global competition and has collected 178 Gold Medals, 167 Silver Medals, and 72 Bronze Medals. Additionally, Team Malaysia has also won 124 Champion of the World Awards and secured 11 scholarships for the participants. Upon returning from Hollywood, the participants saw a greater improvement in their careers and contributed to the development of the performing arts industry in Malaysia.

Thus, MATME has decided to acknowledge contributions by awarding them with the WorldStars Merit Award. During the WorldStars Awards Nite, Team Malaysia 2020 was presented with medals from the 24th World Championship of Performing Arts that took place virtually. Team Malaysia 2020 acquired 2 Gold Medals, 8 Silver Medals, and 5 Bronze Medals. Winners of the medals are as follows:

Romli Bidin, Managing Director of MATME, said, “They may not become popular artistes after winning WCOPA, but they definitely benefitted with more opportunities and bigger offers. I know of several artists that received sponsorships after winning WCOPA to further their studies in both local and foreign universities.”
