WHC2020 - 12 ORGANISATIONS AND PERSONALITY AWARDED FOR THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS TOWARDS THE HALAL INDUSTRY

The World Halal Conference (WHC) awards take place annually to recognize organizations and individuals who excelled in leadership, business & product innovation, technological achievement, and corporate social engagement in the growth of the global halal economy. Together with the Halal Development Corporation (HDC), the 12th WHC awarded twelve organizations and a personality for their contribution to the development of the halal industry.  

Hairol Ariffein Sahari, Chief Executive Officer of HDC, said, "These achievements mark a number of milestones for these respective organizations.  Some of these are well-known brands who had been in their respective industries for a long time and put stringent halal processes into their operations. Indirectly, this showcases the importance of halal in business processes to gain customer confidence and market support."

YB. Senator Lim Ban Hong, Deputy Minister International Trade and Industry, presented the Excellence Awards to SME, logistics, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and personal care, franchise, central kitchen, Research & Development, prominent brand, food & beverage, and international business sectors. Among the recipients of the awards are  Pharmaniaga Manufacturing Berhad, The Westin Kuala Lumpur, International Institute for Halal Research and Training (INHART), QSR Brands (M) Holdings Berhad (operator of KFC and Pizza Hut), Yotsuba Milk Products Co. Ltd, among others.

Tun Musa Hitam, Chairman of the World Islamic Economic Foundation (WIEF), was presented with the Halal Personality Excellence Award for his exceptional leadership and commitment to the Halal Economy through both WIEF and the Royal Award for Islamic Finance, where he serves as the Chair of Jury.
