The Post-Production, Animation & Creative Content Association of Malaysia (POSTAM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Southeast Asian Audio-Visual Association Limited (SAAVA) at KL Converge! 2015.
Through this alliance, POSTAM and SAAVA will jointly promote the filmed entertainment, digital content and media production industries in Malaysia and around Southeast Asia. The MoU signing aims to promote the regional development, joint-production, commercialisation and protection of media-based intellectual properties; encourage more regional co-investments, co-productions and partnerships; promote co-production agreements between governments in the region; facilitate exchange of skills and best practices via workshops, seminars, conferences, masterclasses and other methods of knowledge transfer; encourage the development of the next generation of filmmakers, producers, craftspeople and media professionals; and enable better distribution of regionally produced content worldwide.
“Together with SAAVA, POSTAM will form the bridge between Malaysian media content creators and producers and their regional counterparts in ASEAN to expand their creative and commercial reach, as well as access the hitherto untapped markets of Southeast Asia,” said Yoki Chin, President of POSTAM.
Justin Deimen, Executive Director of SAAVA (Singapore) reiterated, “We are very excited to have the Malaysian media content creation community on board through our new alliance with POSTAM. It makes more sense to work and build success together by reaching out instead of withdrawing within our respective national borders.”
